Your liver and kidneys just can’t keep up with the toxic load you are exposed to every day.

The holistic doctors that I learn from are ramping up their call for the need for all of us to detox twice a year. The toxins that we are exposed to continue to increase and come from many directions. If you want to keep your immune system strong, it’s not enough to eat clean, manage stress, move daily and get good quality sleep. We all need to also do a parasite cleanse, heavy metal toxin cleanse and fasting to keep our systems in good working order.

A cleanse and detox are terms that are often interchanged, which makes sense because when you are cleansing you are also detoxing. When you do a cleanse, which can be eliminating certain foods, juicing only, or fasting, you are taking some burden off of your digestive system. This in turn gives your body more energy to devote to the tasks of priority like autophagy and regulating all of your systems. Even when you just extend your fast by shortening your eating window as in intermittent fasting, your body has a chance to eliminate more of the bad guys. You have to choose a system that works for you. I would suggest starting with something very achievable like a fresh pressed juice only fast on your day of rest, then expand your horizons as you are ready.

Why We Need to Detox

If you have any chronic disease, infections, rashes, asthma, allergies, constipation or diarrhea, your body is telling you it needs to be cleaned up so that it can function optimally. Your liver and kidneys are working overtime to try to clear out the toxic load from both internal and external toxins. Our food, air, soil, water, clothes, cosmetics, and medications are laden with more and more toxins every single day. Even if you buy everything organic, grow your own food, use non-toxic cleaning products, and use aluminum-free cookware, most of us still have trouble eliminating all of the toxins from our system.

Your liver can also get stones and parasites stuck in there which block its ability to function properly. Yes, we all have parasites, whether you want to think about it or not. A parasite is described as anything that lives off of its host, which can include worms, fungus and bacteria. This is why I do frequent coffee enemas, which are great for cleaning out the liver duct where those pesky varmints like to hang out. Here is a great resource if you want to get started with coffee enemas. The Gerson Institute uses these as part of their protocol to cure patients of cancer. You want to start now so you never get cancer.

Also, if you have parasites, they are taking your nutrition and making your system more acidic, which develops into inflammation which leads to disease. If you want to optimize your health and prevent or reverse disease, you need to clean up your internal environment and stop putting toxins in. The New Year is approaching, which is always a good time for a fresh start. Why not do a cleanse or a detox to give your body the jumpstart it needs and be disciplined on your food choices.

I personally do a parasite cleanse twice a year. You can do this without much interruption in your life, so it is a great first step. The first one I did was part of a week-long full body cleanse. I used Dr. Catie’s Pure Body Para Cleanse as part of her full body cleanse system, which was fantastic and features all organic plant food-based ingredients. That one is a powder that is mixed with water and drank as a tonic. It tastes really bad, but it is effective against viruses, bacteria, fungus and parasites. Here is my testimony during a zoom call with Dr. Catie about my experience doing that 7-day cleanse along with Dr. Catie describing all of the ingredients in the cleanse and how it works.

7-day cleanse testimony

I found a parasite cleanse only that has the same herbal ingredients in capsule form as the one mentioned above, which are much more tolerable. If you want to clean up your environment without much effort, just taking 4 of these capsules every day would be a great way to do that.

Paratrex

According to Dr. Group, you should do a 90-day parasite cleanse to eliminate the full cycle of life. You can start small with just the Paratrex or do the full harmful organism cleanse which targets yeast, fungus and parasites. Some folks just use diatomaceous earth or bentonite clay, but I think using a full spectrum formula will eliminate more pests.

My very first attempt at a juice fast was several years ago. One Sunday, I decided to try just consuming fresh pressed juices all day. I used spinach, beets, carrots, celery and ginger and made enough to drink for the whole day. It actually was very satisfying and keep me feeling full and going to the bathroom a lot! By dinner time, I was ready to chew my arm off though. Not so much because I was hungry, I just wanted something to chew. Even though I didn’t make it all day like I planned, it was still a 24 hour fast since I had not eaten anything since the night before. Anything you can accomplish is still good for your body.

The next cleanse I did was a bit more ambitious. I had learned that my cholesterol was creeping back up again, so I decided to eliminate meat and dairy from my diet. Doing a cleanse that promoted a whole food plant-based eating style seemed like a great idea. In January of 2020 I did the Green Smoothie Girl 26-day cleanse. I was able to successfully complete this cleanse and work my full-time job and keep up with my workout schedule without any problem. Robyn designed a full body cleanse system that works in the proper order of elimination. I still use many of the recipes from that cleanse since they were so enjoyable. You can find more information about this cleanse here, where there is also a free masterclass to learn all about it.

GSG 26-day cleanse

The third cleanse I did was Dr. Catie’s 7-day cleanse, which I told you about above. In January of 2021, I decided it was time to fast again. This time I wanted to try a nutritionally supported fast with my Dr. Catie vitamins. As a personal trainer, it is important that I be able to have enough energy to perform all of the intense workouts for my business. Generally, in most fasts, it is recommended that you take it easy; maybe take a walk, do some light yoga, etc. I wanted to be able to do my multifunctional strength and cardio workout as usual without getting lightheaded or running out of energy. My formula worked beautifully! I used Dr. Catie’s Vitamin C, B complex, greens powder and tropical digest twice a day along with some fresh pressed juice and kombucha at dinner time and it was a fantastic 5 day fast! I had all of the energy I needed for my workouts, I did my coffee enemas every day, and got a wonderful reset for my body. If you want to know all of the details, you can read my blog about it here.

Wrap Up

It doesn’t matter how you start your cleansing journey, it’s just important that you know you need to do something. You will read that those who are nay-sayers believe the liver and kidneys should be able to do that without the inconvenience of going to these extremes. My question is, then why do we have an increasing number of chronically ill people if that’s working? The problem is exactly what I mentioned earlier – we are facing too many toxins for our bodies to handle without some assistance. Couple the toxic load with the nutrient depletion of the soil and the food grown in it and we have a double-edged sword in our beautifully created self-healing bodies. If you want to invest in your health and remain disease-free or reverse the chronic illness that plagues you, you must adapt these principles of cleansing the toxins and supplementing with whole-food plant derived vitamins. Toxin build up creates inflammation and vitamin deficiencies lead to malfunction of bodily systems, which both lead to chronic disease. Start your New Year by cleansing your temple.
